In the Dark Days

When I go through hard times I always - almost impulsively, turn back to the roots of my christian faith and the old, old music that I was raised with. There's something so comforting and hopeful about the old songs. I have been listening to them alot lately, and letting God minister to my soul through the words.

I am not free to share publicly what I am going through - only a handful of people are aware of it - it has nothing to do with my marriage, my house, my kids or the new place we are living; neither is it a health issue. It is a journey into the past for me, reliving old memories, reconnecting with old friends, redefining who I am. It has tipped things upside down for me. I am learning to find my strength when I feel my weakness. I am discovering how God has literally, physically protected me and guided me, and kept me from harm. He has been faithful when I have not. I wish I could tell you all about it.

This is very real and very tangible to me right now. It has been a revelation. It has renewed my faith and it has given me hope in the midst of sadness and confusion.

I love this song. My heart, though troubled, has been living it:

I find - that when everything else is stripped away - I can still cling to God. He never leaves me nor forsakes me.

If I could just reach through and give you a hug right now! I'm SO sorry you are going through heartache but we both know all too well that God will see us through, even carrying us when it becomes too hard to walk on our own.

It's interesting you mentioned the old Hymn as I too have been seeking God in our home-buying glitch as we wait, I've found myself clinging close to Him and just resting in His guidance and plans for us. Songs that have come up are "Trust and Obey" and the Children's song "Count Your Blessings". It's amazing how He can speak to His children through song. I don't know about you, but it helps me get through the valley's. Songs, especially those set on solid foundation can REALLY help to heal.

I pray God continues you give you His healing touch, the peace which surpasses ALL your understanding as He guards your heart, mind, body, soul and spirit IN and THROUGH Christ Jesus.

Miss chatting with you but "Standing on the promises of God" (another Hymn) WITH you during your journey.

AMEN

I have also found that over the last couple of years. It's been a long hard journey, but God is faithful.

Even when it hurts too much to pray, and you can't feel connected to Him, he is still there with you and will carry you through your pain, your heartache, your valley of shadow.

Thinking of you and praying for you.

I love that hymn - you do know the story behind it don't you? Even more moving than the words themselves - look it up!

Huge hugs to you xx
