Royal Wedding Stamps Giveaway!

Friday, April 1, 2011
Royal Wedding Fever is almost upon us. We're getting pretty excited about it in this household. Well - we girls are. We are planning a late night vigil in front of the television to watch every minute of it.
We've just had Prince William in our city charming us all - and now we feel like he's one of us. After all, we feel like we know the guy. He's a family friend. We watched his parents get married. We saw him on the day he was born. We were saddened when his parents' marriage broke up. We cried when his mother died. We watched when his father remarried. We know all about his grandparents and his great grandparents and his great greats. We know their names, who they married, how they died, what they did. We probably know more about his family lineage than we know about our own. Prince William. A family friend. Sort of.

Anyway, I have managed to get my hands on some of the beautiful commemorative royal wedding stamps that New Zealand post has put out. Apparently, the Queen and Prince William approved them. And I am going to give one of them away to you. This is what they look like:

Now, I thought it would be kinda fun to do something fun. Most of us women, no matter how old, or where our royal loyalties lie, are interested in the dress Kate is going to wear. It has to be something elegant, royal, iconic, fashionable and beautiful to be a royal wedding gown, don't you think - so I've picked out a few wedding dress styles that Kate might potentially choose. So all you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment telling us which dress from the following you would choose for Kate to wear. Simple, right? And a bit of fun too. My personal favourite is Queen Elizabeth's, but she can't have the same as her soon-to-be grandmother-in-law. I do love Romantic number 2, but that would be more my own style. I think Kate will have something beautiful and elegant and simple - perhaps not like any of these.

Anyway, have fun - and I will choose the winner on Monday (New Zealand time).

I think Classic 5 is more her style but I do think she might surprise us.

We are meeting with friends in their house for champagne and strawberries and the ladies are to wear their best wedding hats. We hope to have fun and watch the wedding and are hoping for a sunny spring day.

OOh I am a royal follower too - We have sky & on UK channel staring 7pm they are having the wedding all evening.

I've been thinking of hosting a web follow the wedding evening.... not got it worked out yet.

I brought some stamps yesterday to put on trade me parcels.

Dress - I have no idea what she will choose - imagine the stress of choosing & the effort to keep it secret.
I hope they will be happy.

Love Leanne

I think Modern 3 - but wondering if looooooong trains are required. I remember Diana's and wondered if it would ever end.

I see Kate in something very elegant, understated.

I imagine my girls and I will be up early watching it!

I like Classic 5 too but I think I'll choose Modern 3. I think we'll have to have a wee party while watching it, though don't think I'll make scrapbooks like I did for Charles & Di and Andrew & Fergie!!

I personally love Classic #3 - very Grace Kelly-like (or something like that). But I think my choice for Kate would be Strapless #1. It's flattering without being all that much revealing, in my opinion. What she actually wears is, of course, a mystery but that makes it more fun! Now that I recall, my own wedding dress had a neckline like Classic #3 - no wonder I like it! Good for you on making your first sale! And thanks for entering me in your giveaway - very exciting! - Kate

This is fun Racheal . I think she would look lovely in romantic no 1 but with some small type of lacey sleeves. She is such a beautiful woman I am sure she will look stunning. Can remember watching with anticipation Williams Mothers wedding. I won a swim suit competion with Lane du Pont years ago when I was in design school with a Princess Di inspired swimsuit and coverup.

Oooh - I really have missed a lot from my flu-induced stint on the couch!

I know I'm late, but I really love the classic no 3 too, but could see her more in classic no 5.
