Artist of the Year 2010

Wednesday, December 1, 2010
We were very proud of our girl last night. She won the coveted Artist of the Year trophy at our annual art awards. I've written before about the private art lessons that the children go to. This year is our 5th year with June Pearson, and this is the supreme award that all the children want. Meredith won this award because of her interesting, colourful, imaginative art and her diligence in fulfilling the requirements for her art studies this year. June said last night in front of the full audience that she was a joy to work with. So we're very proud of her. She has worked hard for this.

Here is some of her work from this year.

Lovely art work, she is very good! The picture in the top left corner reminds me of the Keukenhof tulip gardens in the Netherlands... well done to her :o)

Congratulations and so well deserved, such beautiful artwork that shows so much care, attention to fine detail and imaginative flair. I wish I could draw/paint like that - one day I'll take some lessons... never too old, hey?!

Just wanted to congratulate Meredith for a job well done. I had to do a double take as alot of the artwork looks almost like that of an adult. I mean, I can't even draw or paint like that. I've always wanted to take an art course so this may give me the nudge.

I had thought about putting our own kids in a private art class. We plan to homeschool so I've been looking at alternative ideas for the arts and sports. What a great idea this is!
