I Think I Will Become A Blog Camp Stalker

Saturday, August 10, 2013
A whole week has passed since last Saturday when I attended the very first ever New Zealand Blog
Camp in Auckland run by the amazing Vicki from Vegemite Vix.

I was so excited to go, but you know, the day went by so fast. Why is it that fun things go quickly and dull things go slowly? It was so worth getting up at 5.30am and driving all the way up to Auckland. I do not really like driving by myself long distances. The reason for this is that as a writer I am cursed  blessed with an overactive imagination, so before I have even started the journey I am imagining all kinds of disasters and dramas. Like getting a flat tyre in the middle of the Waihi Gorge at night in the dark when it's raining and there is no cell phone coverage. Yep. That's me. Worst Case Scenario Queen.

Anyway, nothing like that happened and I had the most amazing day. Just soaking in all the information and learning so many new things, I actually thought my brain was going to explode. so if you notice some changes on my blog it's because of all those new things I learned. Things like what is rel=nofollow.

One of my most favourite speakers was Rick Shera, a lawyer who spoke on copyright and internet publishing and all those interesting things/questions/puzzles/doubts that any blogger/writer might have from time to time about publishing things on the internet. It was very interactive (I even asked a few of my own questions, in spite of being an introvert).

And it was such fun to meet a group of amazing women from Auckland who blog and have families and love to write. Simone from greatfun4kids also spoke on blog design and the dos and dont's of blogging, which was very helpful and insightful, and see those blog buttons on the top right of my blog? She tells you how to get those, so hop on over and check out her amazing blog, and you'll probably learn something new too.

We had goody bags full of fun stuff, and I even won something. A consultation on social media with Nat from Go-To Girl. Perfect timing for me as I'm in the process of setting up my author website.

If you're looking for some great new blogs to read, and some really fun and inspirational New Zealand women to read about, here are some links to the blogs of the women who were with me at BlogCamp.
To Find A Silver Lining
Growing Kiwis
If Only they Told Me
The Simple Life
The Best Nest
All In The Daze
La donna Moderna
Jogging Pants Must Die

I can't wait to go to the next one. I will probably end up being a blog camp stalker now.
